Kenilworth Carnival 2014 (Kenilworth Carnival Choir)

Kenilworth Carnival Day is always special; entertaining and filled with wonder and awe.

Kenilworth Carnival Day always has a moving and inspirational soundtrack, with vibrancy and creativity shining through the procession…

…this year was no exception and to top it all, for one day only, the carnival procession had its very own choir!

For those who may have missed this year’s carnival, the choir got together to bring beautiful music to the ears of the audience. On the day, they sang some very ambitious songs and sang all the way around the procession.

The Choir Members were:

Elektra (aka Louise) - The lightning conductor, Elecktra expects perfection from her outstanding choir! Spending all her energy on pushing the choir to its limits.

Felicity Blowhorn (aka Craig) – Felicity is on sabbatical from the Chinewrde Marching Band (http://ccmarchingband.blogspot.co.uk), and she is still looking for fame and fortune. After meeting Conchita backstage at the 2014 Eurovision, she has been inspired to stop shaving.

Shirley Basquet (aka Carole) – Is the diva on the piano, and if you hum it, she’ll have bloody good go at playing it!

James Forta-Scew Smythe (aka Ley) - Is back from boarding school for the holidays, he’s a little mischievous and does get into quite a few scrapes but has a wonderful soprano voice still, and can play the banjo to boot!

Chardony Blanc (aka Abba) – Also back from School for the holiday’s is a brilliant singer but does provoke James!

Snotbag (aka Sara) - Is our punk with ‘tude, and our star for the day, always happy to sing the solo parts on any song, no matter how high or low.

Sister Mary Joseph (aka Jac)  – The not so immaculate, is a banjo playing all singing and dancing nun with an amazing way with unruly dogs!

Flora Tubb (aka Heather) – Is a lovely elderly member of the choir, but unfortunately isn’t quite the full quaver, she takes her plastic frog (fluffy) everywhere with her, even to the Doctors! We almost missed this year’s carnival because we couldn’t find the stupid frog!!

Angela Rosenberg (aka Veronica) – Has been in this choir since it began (July 2014), and has the upmost respect from the rest of the group – well, because she can actually sing!

Chelsea (aka Jules) – our community fitness instructor, agreed to join in and sing along after leading us in some aerobics at the Brays before the procession.

Wainwright (aka Graham) – Is a hill walker, who was on a lovely walk around the castle when he stumbled upon our choir and joined by accident.

What a lovely day it was, not a rain drop during the procession… happy faces everywhere. The floats were great – some real work had gone into the props, costumes and themes… so, I guess all we can say is:

…better start thinking about next year, after all, Kenilworth is pretty damn good at this carnival lark!
